Kwanzaa is a holiday created by African Americans for African Americans. It was created for the African American community to have a way to consciously reconnect to their African roots. Kwanzaa is not a religious holiday like Christmas and Hanukkah. It is a cultural holiday that is rooted in Pan-African practices, principles, and customs.
Kwanzaa is celebrated once a year, over a seven day period (December 26th to January 1st). There are seven principles of Kwanzaa and each day is dedicated to acknowledging, learning, and implementing a principle.
